Belagavi, 28 June

The India Meteorological Department has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for Karnataka’s coastal districts, forecasting heavy rain accompanied by strong winds over Dakshina Kannada and Udupi, while Uttara Kannada is likely to receive moderate rainfall with gusty winds.

The weather department has also predicted widespread rainfall across several parts of Karnataka over the next few days.

In view of the rough sea conditions and heavy rainfall, coastal residents have been advised to remain vigilant. Fishermen have been specifically urged not to venture into the sea until conditions improve.

The department has forecast light to moderate thundershowers in parts of north Karnataka, including Bagalkote, Belagavi, Bidar, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Kalaburagi, Koppal, Raichur, Vijayapura and Yadgir districts.

In the Malnad and southern interior regions, moderate rainfall is expected at many places in Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Hassan, Mysuru, Mandya, Kodagu and Chamarajanagar.

Light rainfall has also been forecast for several locations in Bengaluru Urban and Rural districts, as well as Ballari, Chikkaballapur, Chitradurga, Davanagere, Kolar, Ramanagara, Tumakuru and Vijayanagara.
